EDITING SERVICES
- Developmental Editing (big picture, right- and left-brain edits) Developmental editing is often the first phase of a three-phase manuscript edit (some manuscripts will start with a Line Edit rather than developmental). In a developmental edit I’m looking at the whole enchilada and providing in-depth, in-text edits and direction (via many comments in the manuscript) about clarity of ideas, the organization (structure), and how relatable the message is for your target audience.
- Line Editing (language use, style, creative content) This is the first of a two-phase manuscript edit — meaning that the Line Edit is always followed with a Copyedit. The purpose of a line edit is not to scan for errors; rather, a line edit focuses on the way you use language to communicate your story to the reader. It addresses the creative content, writing style, and language use.
- Copyediting (nuts and bolts: a high-end proofread) This is both the second (or third) phase of an Edit, and a stand-alone edit suitable for authors whose ms. doesn’t require Developmental or Line Editing. Copyediting is a “rules-based” edit, correcting for errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation and sentence structure, consistency, flow, accuracy, and formatting.
- Proofing (a final quality review) Technically, “proofing” is no longer the correct term for the final quality review of a manuscript, but we continue using this word which hearkens to another era of book printing and publishing. Regardless, proofing is both the final pass of all edits and is a stand-alone service. If you want your work to be professional and taken seriously, everything written for public consumption must be proofed. There is no such thing as too many proofs. Proofing is entirely technical and involves checking for and eliminating any errors or problems that occurred during production such as typos, grammar, punctuation, or spelling.

- Conscious Business Projects and Organizations: Technology is rapidly changing how we perceive and interact with the world, but language often lags behind. The meaning of new consciousness narrative is still being agreed upon. I am familiar with, and fluent in, many of the new consciousness linguistic frameworks, perspectives, and ideologies.
